Cargo and CMR

Transport activity involves a great deal of responsibility. Therefore, adequate liability insurance for the loss or damage of goods and goods transported is essential for the financial stability of your company.

Depending on the territorial boundaries in which you operate, you can choose:

Liability insurance of the road transporter, as a carrier, for goods transported in international traffic (CMR)

Insured risks: loss or damage to the goods, in accordance with the provisions of the Convention relating to the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR) contract signed in Geneva on 19 May 1956, entered into force on 2 July 1961 and amended by the Protocol of 5 July 1978.

Liability insurance of the road transporter, as a carrier, for goods transported on the territory of Romania (RTR)

Insured risks: loss or damage of goods transported during a road transport carried out on the roads, with legally authorized vehicles, based on a fault of the carrier and/or the driver of the vehicle. The coverage provided by the insurance policy shall be valid from the time of receipt of the goods until the moment of delivery. The insurance may be terminated for a specified shipment or for a certain period of time.

Additional risks that may be covered:

  • Theft;
  • Depreciation or alteration of goods transported by road vehicles equipped with cold installations in the event of malfunctions in such installations during transport;
  • Freezing depreciation of goods transported by road vehicles equipped with heating installations in the event of malfunctions in such installations during transport.

Cargo insurance is an optional insurance that covers the risk of loss or damage to goods and/or merchandise during road, rail, sea, or air transport (and can be combined for any or all types of transport), as well as during intermediate storage between the point of departure and the final destination. This insurance can be concluded both for the transport of goods performed on Romanian territory, as well as for international transports.
